Hearing Evaluations
A hearing evaluation is a way to check how well you can hear and how well different parts of your ear are working. There are many reasons people get their hearing tested including medical ear problems, family history of hearing loss, gradual changes in hearing, ringing noises in the ears, or even just wanting a baseline for future reference! During your appointment, your hearing care provider will choose an appropriate series of tests to perform based on your medical history and hearing concerns. All tests are non-invasive and generally pain-free. At the end of your appointment, your provider will discuss results of the evaluation and recommendations moving forward.

Hearing Aids
Hearing aids are tiny devices that sit in or on the ear that help people hear better. After a hearing evaluation, you may be prescribed hearing aids that you and your provider will pick out together. The fitting appointment is when your hearing aids are programmed to your hearing needs and you will be shown how to use, clean, charge, and wear your hearing aids. At Santa Rosa Hearing Specialists, all hearing aid fittings are verified with use of Real Ear Measures (REM) using up-to-date technology and evidence-based fitting formulas. Hearing aids are also validated for comfort and fine-tuning decisions are made based on a patient preference.

Tinnitus Management
Tinnitus is when someone hears sounds like buzzing, ringing, or hissing that other people cannot hear. There are many reasons people can develop tinnitus. A tinnitus management appointment includes a hearing evaluation followed by a consultation. You and your provider will discuss the hearing evaluation results, your general health, aggravating tinnitus factors, and known management strategies. By the end of the appointment, you will have some tools and strategies to try. Follow-ups may be appropriate to check for improvement and/or change strategy.

Auditory Processing (CAPD)
Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) is a central auditory nervous system hearing impairment. CAPD is a condition that is characterized by school/work difficulties, needing frequent repetition, struggling to hear in the presence of background noise, and needing sounds at a louder level than others in the presence of a normal diagnostic hearing evaluation. CAPD testing includes a variety of subtests to assess different skills including: Auditory Discrimination, Temporal Processing, and Binaural Integration. If CAPD is diagnosed, a treatment plan will be discussed.
